The FOCUS RISK combines research from technical and natural sciences (chemistry, environmental sciences) in the field of objective RISK ASSESMENT with contributions from mathematics, IT and law. Methods for risk assessment are often based on objective and quantifiable data. But threshold values and data necessary for international comparison often are not standardized or are not generally available. How can risk assessment deal with such heterogeneous data in the environmental sciences, in mathematical modelling of risk scenarios, or in the juristic fields of liability and damage regulations? And what kind of risks concern the IT-systems in which data as the basis for objective risk assessment should be securely stored and processed?
